# The 24-Synth Library

> A Synth is one of 24 expert AI advisors in the SynthBoard library. Each is an archetypal expert role — Strategist, CFO, Skeptic, Customer Champion, Devil's Advocate, and more — with a 6-layer persona stack that lets them hold positions under pressure rather than collapse to consensus.

## What a Synth is

A Synth is the proper noun SynthBoard uses for an AI advisor. Each Synth runs on a 6-layer persona stack:

1. **Base prompt** — role, lane, behavior baseline.
2. **7-dimensional DNA** — domain-specific expertise dimensions.
3. **OCEAN traits** — personality vector calibrated for this expert type.
4. **Cognitive framework** — first-principles, Bayesian, game-theoretic, systems, scenario-based, etc.
5. **Position-integrity rules** — anti-sycophancy guards. Synths hold positions under pressure.
6. **Voice archetype** — register, vocabulary, and rhythm.

Each Synth is also assigned to a model provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google) based on which provider's strengths fit the persona. This is multi-LLM routing, automatic per Synth.

## How to use the library

You convene a board of 2–12 Synths per session. Tier limits: Free up to 3, Pro up to 5, Max up to 8, Ultra up to 12. The full library shows differently per tier:

- **Use Smart Setup** — give it your decision, it picks Synths based on the question shape. Strongly recommended for first-timers.

- **The Operator-CFO** — operational finance, working capital, vendor terms.

- **The Marketer** — positioning, brand, narrative.

- **The Ops Lead** — process design, SOPs, scaling operations.
- **The PM** — roadmap, scope, prioritization.
- **The Engineer** — technical feasibility, scope discipline, debt risk.

- **The Skeptic** — evidence-driven challenge.
- **The Devil's Advocate** — argues the opposite case.
- **The Risk Officer** — downside scenarios, failure modes.

- **The Lawyer** — legal exposure, contract risk, compliance flags.
- **The Designer** — UX consequences, brand integrity.
- **The Recruiter** — hiring decisions, talent strategy.
- **The Therapist** — emotional context, cognitive bias, founder psychology.
- **The Coach** — accountability, decision-quality framing.

### Frontier & research
- **The Futurist** — second-order effects, emerging tech, scenario planning.
- **The Researcher** — evidence synthesis, citations, methodology.
- **The Ethicist** — ethical implications, externalities, stakeholder impact.

### Specialists
- **The Pricing Expert** — pricing strategy, willingness-to-pay analysis.
- **The Sales Leader** — sales motion, deal mechanics, negotiation.

## Choosing the right lineup

A good lineup balances:
- **Lane coverage** — at least one Synth per relevant axis (financial, customer, technical, contrarian).
- **Cognitive diversity** — mix reasoning frameworks (first-principles, Bayesian, systems).
- **Provider diversity** — mix Synths assigned to OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google models.
- **Contrarian inclusion** — always include at least one Skeptic or Devil's Advocate. The board fails when everyone is on the same side.

## Custom Synths (Pro+ tiers)

Pro and above can lightly customize a Synth — adjust the voice, push a particular emphasis. Max and Ultra get deeper customization including custom DNA dimensions. Enterprise tier supports fully custom Synths trained on your organization's prior decisions and domain knowledge.

## Where Synths fit in the system

Synths are not autonomous agents. They are personas that participate in *sessions*. Sessions are time-bounded, multi-round deliberations on a specific decision. The board does not run continuously in the background.

Synths remember every session you have run with them (cross-session memory). Their stance and reasoning sharpen as your account accumulates decisions and outcomes.
